MARGATE & COCONUT CREEK PUT A BIG STOMP DOWN
TO THE NALC STAMP OUT HUNGER FOOD DRIVE.

On May 14th the dedicated staff of the two Post Offices, the citizens of both cities and our volunteers showed up in full force and did an amazing job towards stamping out hunger and filling The Pantry of Broward’s depleted shelves. What sort of job one might ask? They collected, sorted, stayed to the bitter end on their own time, and because of them, we were able to transport 35,936 pounds of FOOD!!!!! We call that nothing short of AMAZING.

Every one of The Pantry staff and all of our volunteers were in place doing their assigned tasks. Penny our CEO was using the fork-lift with the skill of a professional. Our “Sir” John was ready and up on the trucks using the pallet jack as the trucks rolled in. Everyone at all of their stations displayed their abilities with the “old-timers” from last year teaching the new exactly how to sort and stack the bins.

Thank you everyone. We are extremely humbled and proud by all of your efforts.

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

Everyone understands this quote in the Biblical and its literal sense, but The Pantry of Broward is going to translate and modernize it into our present day technical society. The senior citizens of Broward County know how to “fish”. The Pantry is going to teach our elderly who are on fixed incomes, and our elderly who find themselves raising their grandchildren, where and how to “fish” for the resources that will enrich, enlighten, and ease the strain of their everyday living.
