OUR FOUNDER

Elizabeth (BJ) Buntrock was born and raised just outside of Chicago, Illinois and is a proud graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.

BJ moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1978 and in 1983 she founded Flowers & Found Objects on Las Olas Boulevard. A staunch grass-roots volunteer, BJ saw a need for an organization to focus on providing food and services to seniors living on low fixed incomes and grandparents struggling to raise their grandchildren. In 2008, she started The Pantry of Broward, 501(c)(3) missioned to address those very issues.

creating a culture of diversity

Diversity and inclusion are essential values guiding how we model our board of directors, staff, and volunteers to create an organization that strives for inclusion and effectively meets the need. We serve a diverse, multinational clientele that is reflected both inside and outside the walls of The Pantry of Broward.

We believe diversity encourages and ignites unity. With such bonds, we work together as one family ready and able to serve hundreds of other families. Everyone is welcomed here and our commitment to inclusion across race, skin color, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, physical abilities, identity, and experience drives the impact of our mission forward every day. And that is how we measure success.
