The Pantry's Ambassador's Council Member Receives Award!

January 5, 2009

Heidi Davis Knapik, a member of The Pantry of Broward's Ambassador's Council, will receive the Florida Bar President's Pro Bono Service Award for 2009 from the 17th Judicial Circuit, at a ceremony in Tallahassee on January 29th.

Knapik, a shareholder in the Fort Lauderdale office of Gunster, Yoakley and Stewart law firm, is being recognized for her contribution in making legal representation available to those who are unable to afford it, including the nearly 200 pro bono hours she provided The Pantry of Broward.

Congratulations Heidi - and thank you!

Broward Black Elected Officials' (BBEO) President and Members of the Board visited The Pantry of Broward right before Christmas to learn about the work of the agency and to provide some economic support. The BBEO is an organization to launch and sustain a collective strength to improve the greater community of Broward County. Their generous support for those served by The Pantry of Broward is much appreciated and we look forward to working with all their membership in 2009. Please visit browardbeo.org/ for more information. (Photo: Levoyd Williams, State Representative Hazell Rogers and Margaret Bates present a donation to The Pantry of Broward)

The Bank of America Foundation made a generous $ 10,000 donation to The Pantry of Broward in December. This support, together with that of our donors and food drive participants, allowed The Pantry of Broward to provide over 400 special holiday boxes these past few weeks. Thanks to everyone's generous support, all of our hundreds of seniors and grandparents received either a turkey or a ham for their Christmas boxes and turkeys were distributed at Thanksgiving. Thank you all for spreading so much kindness to those who would otherwise have gone without.
