FPL PUTS THEIR
ENERGY INTO A FOOD DRIVE
Staff
from different Florida Power & Light offices collected an amazing 1,000 lbs -
half a ton! - of food plus grocery gift cards to benefit senior clients served
by The Pantry of Broward.
Ben Wesley, Area Manager for FPL, unloaded a company van full of canned foods
which volunteers then sorted for distribution this week to several hundred
seniors in need on low, fixed incomes and grandparents raising their
grandchildren throughout Broward County.
Thanks to FPL employees, many seniors in need will know that people do care.

THE PANTRY IS IN
GOOD HANDS WITH ALLSTATE
Employees from Allstate Insurance's Sunrise, Florida
office have stepped up to the plate for those in need.
During these past few months their 50+ staff members have implemented "Dress
Down Fridays" where they can dress in casual clothing if they donate a can or
more of food each week. Their ongoing efforts resulted in a wonderful delivery
of over 700 lbs of food to The Pantry of Broward!
The photos below show Marty Mueller, from Allstate's Fort Lauderdale Catastrophe
Center, together with Paul Torres unloading their pick-up full of food. They are
helped by The Pantry of Broward's Warehouse Manager, Bernie
McGlinchey.
With this tremendous support from the Sunrise Allstate office, we know we are in
good hands! THANK YOU!
NBC6's "DAY OF GIVING" AN
OVERWHELMING SUCCESS
The
November 18th "Day of Giving" organized by NBC6 motivated thousands of people
throughout Broward County to take time to care.
Over a period of several days, culminating on November 18th, NBC6 viewers were
encouraged to drop of food donations for those served by The Pantry of
Broward at any of the Bank of America banking centers throughout Broward
County. They responded in an impressive manner and many people also made
donations through the studio’s phone bank.
"This was a wonderful example of collaboration between NBC6, Bank of America and
the public," explained Bruce Harris, Director of Development for The
Pantry of Broward. "The true heroes though are members of the public who
stepped up to help our seniors in need this special time of year. Thank you
all!"
