CEO Penny Loughan and Founder BJ
Buntrock, The Pantry of Broward, Are Recipients of 2009 Women's
Council of Commerce "Circle of Excellence - Lifetime Achievement" Award
Penny Loughan and BJ Buntrock have
lived lives of service, community involvement and leadership - significant
qualities which have greatly impacted and improved the lives of seniors they
serve daily at The Pantry of Broward. It is this impact which
was recognized by the Women's Council of Commerce, an area Council of the
Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, on Tuesday, June 2, when both
women received the "Circle of Excellence - Lifetime Achievement" Award.
They were also presented with Proclamations from the Office of the Mayor,
City of Fort Lauderdale, Mayor John P. "Jack" Seiler recognizing their
achievement and lifetime of service. Penny Loughan and BJ Buntrock were
honored by the accolades and received a standing ovation by over 200
attendees at the awards luncheon ceremony. The general consensus was that
both women are "too young" to be receiving a Lifetime Achievement award, the
fact is they are both very young at heart!
Additional Circle of Excellence award recipients were Congresswoman, Debbie
Wasserman Schultz; Lauri Jennings, WPLG Local 10; and Rita Wells, Laffing
Matterz. The Keynote speaker was Dr. Sherrie Bourg Carter, CEO, Sherrie
Bourg Carter, Psy.D, P.A.
Publix Donates over $1600 in
Food to The Pantry
As a part of Publix's Spring Bag Donation Food Drive, customers were
invited to purchase bags of non-perishable food to be donated to a local
charity. The Publix store at the Pine Island Ridge Plaza in Davie
collected over $1600 in food donations from their customers. The
Pantry of Broward was the proud recipient of this food drive. We
are very grateful to Publix, it's associates, and customers for giving
back to the community. This donation will go a long way to benefit our
clients.
