BANK OF AMERICA FOOD DRIVE AN AMAZING SUCCESS
 

The Pantry of Broward's 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive held together with Bank of America was a huge success.

Thanks to the generosity of Bank of America's clients, a total of 18,006 lbs of food were dropped off at the more than 70 banking centers throughout Broward County during the month of November. This is more than double the 8,000 lbs collected in 2008.

"We are so, so grateful for the people of Broward County who took time to care and to Bank of America for facilitating this annual Thanksgiving Food Drive," commented Penny Loughan, CEO of The Pantry of Broward, a unique agency that serves seniors in need on low, fixed incomes and grandparents raising their grandchildren.

ST MARK'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH'S MENS CLUB SHARES AND CARES

The congregation of St. Mark's Episcopal Church donated close to $1,200 to purchase turkeys and trimmings as part of The Pantry of Broward's Thanksgiving food drive.

This tremendous donation was delivered by Horris Chang, Chairman of the Men's Club and past chair Chuck Millspaugh who organized the initiative.

"Thank you to everyone at St Mark's for truly reaching out to those in need this holiday. It truly is the season to give," stated Penny Loughan, CEO for The Pantry of Broward.

US Congress Recognizes Successes of The Pantry of Broward

The Congressional Record of the House of Representatives of the 111th Congress, dated November 19th, 2009, publicly recognizes the work of The Pantry of Broward and its Founder, BJ Buntrock in their efforts to provide food and other services to seniors in need on low, fixed incomes and grandparents raising their grandchildren in Broward County, South Florida.

NBC6's "DAY OF GIVING" AN OVERWHELMING SUCCESS
 

The November 18th "Day of Giving" organized by NBC6 motivated thousands of people throughout Broward County to take time to care.

Over a period of several days, culminating on November 18th, NBC6 viewers were encouraged to drop of food donations for those served by The Pantry of Broward at any of the Bank of America banking centers throughout Broward County. They responded in an impressive manner and many people also made donations through the studio’s phone bank.

"This was a wonderful example of collaboration between NBC6, Bank of America and the public," explained Bruce Harris, Director of Development for The Pantry of Broward. "The true heroes though are members of the public who stepped up to help our seniors in need this special time of year. Thank you all!"

BANK OF AMERICA AND PANTRY OF BROWARD TEAM UP TO FIGHT HUNGER AMONG SENIORS


 

FORT LAUDERDALE - The Pantry of Broward today announced that Bank of America will again support a Thanksgiving Food Drive for seniors in need throughout Broward County during the month of November.

For the second consecutive year, the public is invited to drop off packaged foods at any of Bank of America's more than 70 banking centers in Broward County from November 2 through November 30, 2009.

PANTRY FOUNDER NAMED "2009 LOCAL HERO" BY BANK OF AMERICA
 

The Founder - and principal volunteer - of The Pantry of Broward has been named as a "2009 Local Hero" award recipient through Bank of America's "Neighborhood Excellence Initiative."

"BJ Buntrock's efforts are truly a testament to her commitment to improving the Broward County community," wrote Mark Mallar, Broward Market President for Bank of America.

The Bank of America Neighborhood Excellence Initiative is designed to recognize, nurture and reward organizations, local heroes and student leaders who are helping their neighborhoods achieve excellence.

The awards will be presented on Thursday, November 5th at 11:30am at The Signature Grand in Davie. The Bank of America Charitable Foundation, Inc. will designate a prize of $5,000 to The Pantry of Broward.

OUR LADY OF MERCY CATHOLIC CHURCH PROVIDES FOR SENIORS

The congregation of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Deerfield Beach collected more than half-a-ton of food for the seniors and grandparents served by The Pantry of Broward this past month. This is the second year in a row that Our Lady of Mercy congregants have shared their blessings with seniors in need during their "Feed the Less Fortunate" campaign, coordinated by Jerry McGuinn.

CORAL SPRINGS NEIGHBORHOOD HOLDS HALLOWEEN FOOD DRIVE

The residents of the Eagle Trace neighborhood in Coral Springs used their 12th Annual Halloween Block Party as an opportunity to help seniors in need in Broward County.

This past Saturday, residents brought along their spooky masks and a total of 683 lbs of food which was donated to The Pantry of Broward, an agency serving seniors in need on low, fixed incomes and grandparents raising their grandchildren throughout Broward County.
