The Pantry of Broward serves seniors in need living on low, fixed incomes and grandparents raising their grandchildren throughout Broward County

What We Do

Each month, The Pantry staff prepares a 55-pound box of nutritional food (plus fresh produce and breads, as available) to subsidize its 425 clients’ food budgets. By doing so, we lower their risk of food insecurity and free up some funds for other much-needed items (e.g., medications, healthcare services, etc.). Because many of our clients live in multi-person households and/or are raising their grandchildren on fixed incomes, we estimate that more than 1,000 individuals (including 165+grandchildren) benefit from and depend upon this food supplement each month.

We also take the time to meet with each of our clients regularly to determine their unique individual needs (and those of the grandchildren they are raising) to see how else we can be of help, whether it be guiding them through the process of obtaining state or government assistance, assisting them with applying for affordable housing and/or directing them to sources for low-cost healthcare, our mission is to improve their quality of life by relieving some of the stress of daily living.
