SCANDALS HITS A HOME-RUN WITH THEIR
“BACK TO SCHOOL” SUMMER CAMP-Y
Another smashing success for the patrons, staff and owners of Scandals
Saloon
This
past Christmas Todd Eller started with a germ of an idea about raising money to
buy gifts for our grandchildren for Christmas. As is the way with the Scandals
crew, once the idea was out there, staff and patrons jumped on board and adopted
entire families for Christmas. Since then they have been mulling and planning
how to help “their kids” and Back to School came to be. With hard work and
perseverance the staff and patrons put together a fundraising event that was
AMAZING from beginning to end. The silent auction items, raffle tickets, funny
entertainment, and the huge generous crowd made it a memorable evening filled
with love and joy. Talley for the evening??
$13,059.00 !!!
It will be the best back to school year ever for our grandparents and their
grandchildren.
Do stay tuned, Patrons and Staff are coming to The Pantry on
August 16th to stuff the Back Packs and meet the grand kids as they come in for
their school supplies. We’ll take plenty of pictures I promise! For more

MARGATE POST OFFICE HITS ANOTHER HOME
RUN
The Margate Post Office staff, letter carriers and rural carries hit another
“ball out of the park” during the annual U. S. Postal Stamp Out Hunger food
drive this past May. At The Pantry we wanted to honor in some small way the
gigantic effort the Margate Team made towards stamping out hunger and providing
our clients with 25,587 pounds of food. No easy feat in these times when lots of
folks are having trouble feeding themselves, let alone helping others. But The
Margate Team did it. They worked the field, rounded the bases and in
temperatures that felt like 100 degrees they picked it all up and brought it
home. Jim Johnson, Margate Team Manager, came to The Pantry recently to accept
our tribute to the team. He accepted with great pride in his team’s work. On
that note we will close gustily singing, “Take Me Out to Margate, Take Me Back
to the Team”, can’t wait until next year! Once more THANK
YOU ALL !!!
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you
feed him for a lifetime."
Everyone understands this quote in the Biblical and its
literal sense, but The Pantry of Broward is going to translate and
modernize it into our present day technical society. The senior citizens of
Broward County know how to “fish”. The Pantry is going to teach our
elderly who are on fixed incomes, and our elderly who find themselves raising
their grandchildren, where and how to “fish” for the resources that will enrich,
enlighten, and ease the strain of their everyday living.
