The Pantry of Broward is proud to be a co-developer of Lofts on 6th, a $45 million+ affordable senior housing community rising in Fort Lauderdale's historic Sistrunk District. For sixteen years we've worked to make sure local seniors never go without food. Lofts on 6th is the next step in that promise: making sure they never go without a safe, dignified, and affordable place to call home.
AN URGENT NEED
Over the past decade, housing costs in South Florida have climbed nearly 80%, leaving many seniors on fixed incomes to choose between rent, food, and medication. By 2050, the region's senior population is projected to grow by more than 54%. The need for affordable senior housing has never been greater.
A VISIONARY SOLUTION
Lofts on 6th is more than a building. Rising eight stories, it will provide 90 affordable apartments reserved exclusively for seniors, alongside amenities designed to support independence and connection — a fitness studio, business center, game room, outdoor terrace, and on-site management. Homes will be offered to seniors earning up to 80% of Area Median Income, with the majority set aside for those in greatest need.
THE PANTRY'S ROLE
Lofts on 6th is co-developed by The Pantry of Broward and Green Mills Holdings, LLC. The development also brings a new, state-of-the-art home for the Pantry itself — replacing the converted auto-repair shop we've operated from for sixteen years with modern warehouse space, cold and dry storage, and offices, so we can serve a growing community with even greater care.
